One on One Computer Training

All computing courses are at TCC (unless stated otherwise) in air-conditioned comfort.  We provide notes and a disk, just bring a notebook and pen.  Where stated, units are aligned to the Information and Communications Technology Training Package ICA05 or the Business Services Training Package BSB07.  Tamworth Community College uses Windows Vista And Microsoft Office 2007 at 228 Marius Street. Quirindi campus of Tamworth Community College uses Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2003 at the corner of Henry and East Street Quirindi. U.N.E. building at 29 Fitzroy Street uses Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003

COMPUTERS STAGE I – Absolute Beginners

This course provides an introduction to computers and is designed for a person who has never touched a computer before.  Learn how to use the mouse and keyboard, basic word processing the Internet and email, come and conquer your fears with this course.  Aligned to Unit: ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer.   Fee $175/Conc $155

If you can turn the computer on, and get around a little, then come along and expand your knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook, the three most commonly used programs in the Microsoft Office Package.  You will also look at the Internet and searching the WWW.  Aligned to Unit: ICAU1128B Operate a personal computer.  Fee:  $175/Conc $155

DESKTOP PUBLISHING

A practical course using Microsoft Publisher.  Use advertising concepts as you produce professional looking documents such as brochures, business cards, fliers and newsletters which are eye-catching yet easy to read.  Aligned to Unit: BSBCMN306A Produce business documents. Basic computing skills essential.

DIGITAL RECORDING with Lawrie Minson

Learn to use a digital recording program from an expert.  Lawrie Minson will teach you how to make your own demo recordings, transfer vinyl or tape recordings to CD, do your own voice over’s or even take your first steps towards a career in recording!  There is a widespread interest in digital recording and most people do not realise that with basic skills you can do a professional quality recording in the comfort of your own home.

Access

Access is a powerful relational database system which stores information in small tables for easy access and manipulation.  Learn how to create, edit and manage a database, and how to create tables, forms, queries and reports.  Also cover linking files and exporting data.  Great for mailing lists, recording details of clients, staff, books and CD libraries, spare parts and much more! Unit: ICAU1131B Operate a database application.  Basic computing skills essential.

Excel

Gain skills to create and modify spreadsheets using MS Excel. Cover how to create and modify formula and functions, use charts, and charting tool, printing multi-pages to one page and much more. EXCEL ADVANCED

Take the next step in MS Excel and boost your productivity at work with this advanced spreadsheeting course.  Learn how to better manage data, link spreadsheets, and how to present a range of scenarios and graphs to inform your management. You’ll also be working with macros, templates, formulas and the advanced set of functions.  Basic Excel & Computing skills essential.  Unit: BSBITU402A Develop and use complex spreadsheets.  Peter Johnston.  Fee:  $220/Conc $200

Keyboarding (Touch Typing)

Acquire skills in keyboard techniques and operations. This course may help you gain that elusive 30 words a minute barrier.  Fee includes Australian Standards Typing assessment. Unit: BSBITU102A Develop keyboard skills.

MYOB BASICS – Processing data

MYOB

Learn how to use MYOB as a total accounting solution for your business. This course covers creating and editing accounts in the accounts list, processing account and cash sales, payments and bank deposits. You will also learn to process purchases, cheques, payroll, and bank reconciliations to help you fulfil your BAS and GST requirements.   Pre-requisite: Basic computer and manual bookkeeping skills.  Unit: ICAU1211B Operate accounting applications. TYPING TESTS

Do you need a statement of your typing speed for your resume? Come in and complete the speed/accuracy test under Australian Standard 2708-2001.                                       Fee:  $35

WORD

Create professionally formatted documents that any office worker would be proud of.  Cover formatting, including text alignment, tabs, indents, tables, borders, find and replace, inserting page numbers and page breaks, headers and footers, and more.
